Carved Flowers for Fireplace Mantel

I’ve been making decent progress on the fireplace mantel carving. Here are some flowers that will be part of it.

Flowers carved in Walnut

They’re also carved in American Black Walnut, and are approximately one inch wide and 3/4 of an inch tall. I’ve carved the edges a couple of degrees off of 90 so that they cast a little more shadow and so that the flower tops appear larger.

In local news, it’s still raining in Langley. Summer seems rather distant in my mind. And our garden is doing more rotting than growing at this point.

Back to carving!
